C3ntro Global team at WWC 2026

Wholesale World Congress (WWC) 2026 ran from September 16 to 18 in Madrid, and C3ntro Global was there with our DID and SMS teams. WWC is the meeting point for the international wholesale telecom community, where carriers, mobile operators, ISPs, VoIP providers and technology partners spend three days in back-to-back conversations about voice, A2P SMS and DID numbers. Here is what we heard in those rooms, what stood out to us, and what we brought home.

What Is Wholesale World Congress 2026?

Wholesale World Congress is one of the main yearly gatherings for companies that buy and sell telecom capacity, messaging routes and numbering. The 2026 edition took place at the Meliá Castilla hotel in Madrid. Event listings ahead of the show pointed to more than 1,500 attendees and over 500 companies from 82 countries.

The format is what makes WWC different. There are no panelists and no stage program to follow. It is built purely around networking: scheduled meetings, booths, and the conversations that happen in between. People arrive knowing exactly what they came for, with a list of partners to meet and routes, coverage or volumes to discuss.

Why Does WWC Matter for C3ntro Global?

Every team that travels to WWC has its own reason to be there. For us, it is a working week in the most literal sense, and for our SMS business it is where a large part of the work happens.

"For us, this event is full business"

The value comes from the mix of attendees. Companies from other regions look for providers with deep experience in Latin America, and we bring that experience to the table. At the same time, we meet partners with complementary reach, which makes it easier to offer customers a service that is truly global.

On the DID side, the week is about relationships. We set our agenda, meet people, take notes and close conversations that were left open. Once you are face to face with a customer, the relationship gets stronger, and everything becomes easier when they already know you.

What Did the Wholesale Telecom Community Talk About at WWC 2026?

Four themes came up again and again across our meetings.

Is SMS Still Relevant in Wholesale Telecom?

Yes, and the room at WWC agreed. For years the industry has heard predictions that SMS would fade as newer channels arrive. Rodrigo’s takeaway from Madrid was the opposite: the business keeps growing, and no real substitute is in sight.

“SMS is still the most effective way to communicate through a mobile phone.”

A2P SMS carries the messages people cannot afford to miss, such as verification codes, payment alerts and security notices. It works on any handset without an app or a data connection, and it runs over regulated operator networks. The SMS business has also gone through several stages over the years, from exclusivity arrangements to price increases, and providers keep adapting to make sure every message gets delivered. That adaptability is a big reason why an A2P SMS aggregator remains central to the ecosystem. To see how delivery quality is managed in practice, read our article on SMS delivery monitoring and control.

Where Does RCS Fit in A2P Messaging?

RCS is moving forward, but quietly. In our wholesale conversations it was not a headline topic. When it did come up, it was mostly tied to local enterprise use cases, such as richer content and two-way chat with users. Rodrigo sees the two technologies as serving different purposes:

“RCS is a complement to SMS, not a substitute.”

Verification codes and critical alerts need to reach every phone, which is where SMS remains the default. RCS depends on device and network support, so it works best as an extra layer for brands that want a richer experience in specific markets.

What Are Carriers Looking for in Wholesale DIDs?

Coverage, once again. Several conversations started with an A to Z wish list of DID numbers, from carriers and platforms that want one supplier for many countries. Another pattern was fast-growing companies arriving with basic but important questions about how DID service works. There are not many providers in this space, so attendees tend to know exactly who they want to meet. Conversations also moved toward additional services around numbering, such as voice platforms.

That is where C3ntro’s DID coverage in 120+ countries becomes part of the discussion. If you are new to the topic, start with What Are DID Numbers? and How Do DIDs Work?, or go deeper with Wholesale DIDs: The Complete Guide.

Who Was in the Room at WWC Madrid?

Most attendees came from Europe, with a strong Latin American presence and a large group from the Middle East, and fewer companies from Asia. For us, that mix works well because we are not tied to a single geography. A conversation with a carrier from any region can start from the same place: what coverage do you need, and how do we deliver it?

What Did Our Team Say About WWC 2026?

Our teams came back with a similar read of the edition. We saw growth across voice and SMS, new operators joining the conversation, and a clear opportunity to strengthen the relationships we already have.

“With the growing number of attendees, you could say this is the best telecom event for Voice, SMS and DID services.”

Something else does not show up on a booth banner, and it is what customers keep telling us they value.

“Our reputation is the reflection of the work we do every day to maintain the quality of our services.”

Why Do Face-to-Face Meetings Still Matter in Wholesale Telecom?

Because wholesale is a relationship business. The atmosphere at WWC is open and accessible, which makes it easy to approach new contacts and revisit pending deals in a single week. It also reminds us to keep pace with how the market moves. The hot topic changes from one year to the next, and what matters is being present when an opportunity opens up. An event like WWC puts all of that in one place: current partners, new operators and the questions the market is asking right now.

What Did C3ntro Global Take Back From Madrid?

We left Madrid with four clear takeaways:

  • WWC keeps growing across voice, SMS and DIDs, and it is still the place where wholesale relationships get built.
  • A2P SMS remains strong, and RCS is developing as a complement, not a replacement.
  • In DIDs, coverage leads the conversation, and customers value clear answers about how the service works.
  • Meeting in person turns contacts into partnerships.

Our goal is for customers to see us as a provider that works well beyond one region.

“We want customers to see C3ntro as a global services company, not only a LATAM reference.”
